Late Arvind Adarkar
Founder of Adarkar Associates, Arvind Adarkar started his architectural practice in 1975 and his teaching career in 1983 as a visiting faculty in Academy of Architecture, Rachna Sansad. Later he initiated the Urban Studies Course in Rachana Sansad, Mumbai. He co-founded ‘Mumbai Study Group’, a forum to promote multi disciplinary dialogue on the issues of Urban Planning, Environment and Architecture.
In 2009 Council of Architecture awarded him a Doctorate to be used in his Academic career. He was appointed as the principal of Academy of Architecture, Rachna Sansad. He was member of Board of Studies and of the Syllabus Committee for Architecture, University of Mumbai.
Arvind was on two important Government committees as an expert member; on the 'High Power Committee of to formulate a ‘long term policy for urban housing’ and on the Dharavi Redevelopment Committee.
He was associated with several peoples' organisations and participated in many urban struggles, the most prominent being the struggle of the mill workers of Mumbai.
He presented several research papers and delivered lecturers in the academic and research institutions in India and out side India.
